For almost 20 years, Nerida's songs have connected her with audiences from all walks of life. Whether in a pub, a restaurant, a festival, a church, or even under the stars, Nerida's clear melodic lines and evocative lyrics stimulate reflection, laughter, tears.
ABC Central West recently described Nerida as a composer and musician with not only an ear for music but a social conscience and a sense of humour.
(Janice McGilchrist). Youth & social work, travel in developing countries, spiritual journeying, loss & healing, love & family - she winds them all together with rich Australian imagery.
Nerida has performed in varied festivals including the Yackandandah Folk Festival, Quest Creative Arts Festival (Sydney Olympics), Easterfest (Toowoomba) and Black Stump (Sydney). She has organised and participated in open mikes & jam sessions in Broken Hill, Dubbo, Ballarat & Canowindra. She has provided entertainment at conferences, weddings, gallery openings and special events; and is now a regular at Taste Canowindra - a restaurant and wine tasting venue where she lives. In 2003, she was the support act for Jon English at Canowindra's beautiful Windowrie Estate. Each year, she plays locally at the Woolstock festival at Rosnay Organic Farms.
Nerida recently produced her 3rd album, at the same time as producing her 3rd child (Aug/Sep 08)! Life with a young family has limited her ability to tour, but has definitely enhanced her thematic content! This live album, Crazy Beautiful World, has received airplay on ABC Central West and HHH Community Radio in Sydney and has so far been positively received. The material covers a broad range of themes - western culture, love stories, being a mother, even op-shopping! Musically, there is also great variety - from finger-picking blue-grass to acapella. She is ably backed by Melbourne musos: Liz Frencham, Phil Butson, Dave Gleeson, & Candy Edwards.
Nerida's previous albums have also sold well. Journal (2003) is a reflective cd, exploring the experience of grief & loss. Living Desert (2000) is a lively EP with Irish & African flavours.
